Procedures for dealing with the Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter

We have two goals in dealing with this insect: 1) do what we can to prevent it from entering our beautiful counties; and 2) work together with residents to detect it as early as possible if it does enter our backyards, parks and farms, so we have as many options as possible in getting rid of the insect. Please join us in working together to use prevention and early detection as the best methods for dealing with this insect!

If you find a suspicious egg mass or insect, or white stains on a sidewalk, car, patio furniture or plants, please call us at 1-866-BUG-SPOT. Here are the procedures we will follow if you call us:

If you find signs of a GWSS and call us we will ask you a few questions about the insect you found and if it sounds suspicious, we will ask if you can bring it in or we can pick it up. We'll send it to the lab for confirmation.
